In the hills of Matas de Minas, two brothers grew up on a family farm, where they learned coffee farming from their father, who instilled in them a deep respect for the land. After their father’s tragic death in 1999, the brothers committed to continuing his legacy, working tirelessly to improve the farm.In 2015, the brothers transitioned to organic farming, a decision inspired by their father’s philosophy of working in harmony with nature. This change revitalized the farm, attracting wildlife like exotic birds, sloths, and jaguars, and transforming the land into a thriving ecosystem. Alongside their coffee crops, the brothers cultivated over 5,000 avocado trees, preserved native forests, and planted African mahogany and eucalyptus trees, all of which contributed to a balanced environment.Today, Fazendas Dutra is not only a model of sustainable farming but also a leader in empowering the local community. The two brothers share their expertise with neighboring farmers, helping them make the shift to organic practices. Their commitment to sustainability goes beyond farming—it’s a lifelong dedication to preserving the land they cherish, ensuring a better future for both the environment and the community.
