In my early days, I lived in the city of Tegucigalpa, working in construction until I was 24. Although I enjoyed my job, I always felt a special connection to the land. Everything changed when my grandmother sold me the first two plots of coffee. At that moment, I didn’t realize that this small gesture would mark a turning point in my life. For 15 years, I struggled to maintain the farm. Despite my desire to care for the plants, the challenges were many. I lived far away and didn’t have the time to fully dedicate myself to the cultivation. So, I made the brave decision to move to El Zurzular, where my property is located. At first, it was a challenge; I wasn’t used to the tasks of farming, and on more than one occasion, I thought about giving up. Coffee prices were low, and sometimes my family and I struggled to eat. Over time, I began to see the evolution of my coffee plants and fell in love with them. One day, a visitor noticed the potential of my farm, requested a sample, and helped me make my first significant sale. Receiving a fair price for my product motivated me to expand the cultivation by purchasing more land from my neighbors. Today, I have transformed my small 2-acre farm into a prosperous 30-acre plantation. Not only have I established myself as a successful coffee grower, but I have also become a source of employment for my community. I have between 10 and 15 workers year-round, and during the harvest season, that number can reach 50. It fills me with satisfaction to know that when I am doing well, I can also help others thrive. My story is a testament to resilience and passion. Despite the difficulties, my love for the land and my community has led me to achieve things I never imagined.
